| Sunday, today we are off to church. Yesterday was a fun and exciting day. My family came to visit and we had a good time talking and eating. We did not go to teh University of Penn Musuem becuase my family arrived late and there would not have been enough time to really see everything, but we made the best of it. We went out to eat at a local place and had a great lunch (I had a chicken CHEESE steak and CHEESE fries) afterwards they came back to the apartment and we talked and had fun. For dinner we had pizza and vietmenese food (some having pizza and some having vietmenese). After dinner we had cheesecake and then I made a fire out in the lounge and we sat around the fire until about 10pm when they had to go. It was nice having my family over and this was their first time visiting since the wedding. We will hope to go to the musuem some other time and right now I am really looking forward to Thanksgiving when my family will come again. | | |
| Hey Guys,
Here is another random posting. I am doing well, I had a good week and a fast one. Right now Li-yun and I are getting ready to eat and then we have to go to get our travel shots. Hopefully these will be the last set of shots, not only are shots annoying but also there not cheap. After our shots my family is stoping by the seminary. After a bit of lunch (and maybe some CHEESE, Gromit!) we will be going to the University of Penn museum of ancient history to look at mummies! It should be a fun and exciting time of hanging out and learning, I am really excited for I have always wanted to go but never go around to it. Anyway, right now I am reading a book by Daniel Snell called "Life in the Ancient Near East" and I just took out a book from our library called "Assyrian and Babylonian Chronicles" by Grayson. You might be thinking to yourself "why would he get those books on Assyria out?" Well, we had a class this Thursday in OT survery were we talked about I and II Kings and our prof had mentioned Assyria and then he read an article in class of how vicious they were. Then our prof reminded us that God would use that pagan and vicious people to discipline his children Israel, which in some ways is hard to imagine God would use such a people. Anyway, after the class I wanted to learn more so I went straight to the library were I checked out the books and now I am reading Snell's book. Anyway got to rush off for it is 9:18 and I have to be at the travel doctors at 10.
| Hey Everyone! It has been a while since I last visited. Anyway, I have been doing great. This week is the first full week of school were I teach. It has been hot the last few days so work has been a little difficult as we have no ac and I am on the second floor. Anyway, things are going well with the studens, the one thing that I dont like about teaching is that part of it seems like I am baby sitting. Anyway, it is very funny when you have a class full of new students who are taking you for the first time. They are probably the most well behaved bunch but they are either disorganized or too organized. You might say "how can one be too organized?" well let me tell you. Most of the teachers have asked this grade to use folders to make sure they dont lose papers and that they can have their homework ready for when they need it. However, they have a folder for every class and a folder for both homework they need to do and homework that is done thus they have doubled and sometimes tripled teh amount of folders they need. Imagine seeing a studnet walking down the hall struggling because they have too many books and folders? Also, this is the first time that they have to takes notes from the book, the board and lecture. Thus they ask "should I write this down?" "Should I write it down like it is in the book or on the board?" Again they are good questions yet it sometimes breaks up the flow of class.
I am currently taking two classes as well this fall. One NT class---Making Sense of Marks Gospel and OT survey. The NT class looks good and I will probably read some of Donald Juel's books on Mark. Which reminds me after typing up some notes for tommorrow I need to do some reading. Right now I am reading 1776, by David McCullough and "The Origin of the Bible" and "The Return of the King" by Tolkien. I hope everyone is doing well and who knows the next time that I will reply
| What do I say except that I have been sucked into the Xenga trap. Will I really write anything worth while or will I just ramble on? Will I find time to write or will this site just sit here with this only posting? Who knows but I guess we will find out.
